MidwestMixtapes.com will be closing at the end of this year. Lack of time and resources (contributers, money for hosting) has hindered our growth. While we’ve provided over 50 mixtapes for free download, we weren’t able to put in the time we would have liked to see the site get more exposure for Midwest artists and producers. Part Time Monk- Build & Release

Part Time Monk is double-threat MC & Producer Homer L Twigg IV. Get down to the vibe of one man with putting Naptown on the map with material, style, and sampling techniques original to the midwest region and Indianapolis in general. If you’ve never heard the degree of sophistication that comes out of IN, you’re sleeping on it.

The “Build & Release” mixtape is a combo of three different pieces: partly from the 2006 release “Lost Beats Vol. 1″, partly from the 2007 release “The Growth Factor”, and partly from one of two running projects, “Philly Tea”.

The other project in the works is called “Odyssey”– a two-CD re-telling of Homer’s Odyssey in english, AND in dactylic hexameter (how the original was done). Recent research and archelogical evidence shows that the first oral transmissions of this story (one of the most important to ever be written down in Western history) were accompanied by a circle of men pounding out a beat on the floor as someone spoke the story– in rhythm.
